The HorsePower #8.5 short round was as exciting as they come, some repeat winners, tears, and a little drama to go along with it. The header of the 22nd call back team had his horse tumble and fall on top of him, and thankfully he is alright and was able to win 14th place and $3,000. Ten-year-old JJ Renteria won both 7th and 9th place, splitting $12,000 and $8,000 with his Dad and cousin. Eric Epperson and Ethan McGhee nailed down their final steer in the 2nd call back position with a time of 8.19, but the high call back team of Cael Cantu and Trevor Skelton showed they had nerves of steel, roping their final steer with a time of 7.58 to win it all. They took home $44,000, Scott Thomas Saddles, Resistol Hats, and HorsePower Boots. This HorsePower #8.5 Shoot Out paid out a total of $209,000.
